A UNESCO Japanese Funds-in-Trust organised workshop on the Silk Roads World Heritage Serial and Transnational Nomination in Central Asia project - Phase II was held in Tajikistan in early September. Discussion focused on the basics of documenting sites and presentations as well as demonstrations were given by Professor Kazuya Yamauchi (Teiko University) and CAAL’s own Tim Williams. Dmitriy Voyakin and Farukh Khabibullaev of IICAS were joined by visiting expert Denis Sorokin. CAAL’s own Gai Jorayev and Marco Nebbia gave practical demonstrations. Data from the workshop will be used to create the documentation for the Silk Roads: Fergana-Syrdarya Corridor. Quite a few other CAAL project team members were in attendance, including: Tatyana Filimonova, Galina Karimova and Bobomullo Bobomulloev.
